Are blackheads on your nose or chin making you wonder whether to try Hydrafacial while you are in Korea? Hydrafacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, device-assisted suction, and hydration. It can be considered for clogged pores, but if you have red, painful acne or your skin feels irritated, we will examine those areas first.

Please tell us whether blackheads are your only concern or whether you are also worried about inflamed acne, dark marks, or scars. If you have recently had a peel or laser treatment, let us know when it was done and what you received. We will discuss what your skin needs now and decide how much to include in your care.

Why do blackheads and inflamed acne need to be assessed separately?

A blackhead is an open comedone, while a whitehead is a closed comedone. Red, painful, or pus-filled spots, as well as lumps that feel deep beneath the skin, need to be assessed differently from a simple clogged pore.

If you see both dark plugs and areas of inflammation or broken skin, show us those areas first. After examining your skin, we will explain which areas can be treated as part of your pore care and which may need a different treatment.

Please also mention any dark marks or indented acne scars that concern you. We will discuss separately what Hydrafacial may help manage and what treatment may be needed for acne marks or scars.

What are the usual steps in a Hydrafacial treatment?

A standard Hydrafacial treatment cleanses and exfoliates the skin, uses device-assisted suction to remove impurities, and delivers hydration. These steps are performed without piercing the skin.

When you book, ask which steps and products are included. Boosters, LED treatment, or lymphatic drainage may depend on the option you choose, so please confirm the exact treatment plan. If any part of your skin is already irritated, ask whether that area should be treated or left out.

Sebum, dead skin cells, skincare products, and inflammation can all play a part in blackheads returning. One session cannot be expected to remove every blackhead or prevent them from coming back. After looking at your skin, we will explain what you can reasonably expect from this visit.

How is Hydrafacial different from manual extraction by an esthetician?

Hydrafacial combines device-assisted suction with cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration. At YJ Central Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Clinic, manual extraction is performed by an esthetician who checks areas with blackheads and whiteheads one by one. Both may be used for pore concerns, but the process is different.

Red, painful, inflamed acne is examined first by a board-certified dermatologist. For severe inflammation, an anti-inflammatory injection may help calm it quickly and lower the chance of scarring. Oral or topical medication may also be prescribed when needed.

Blackheads and whiteheads may be managed with Hydrafacial or manual extraction, while red or deep inflammation may need medical treatment first. After examining your skin, we will explain the order in which care and treatment should be carried out.

Please do not squeeze the area in a hurry before your visit. Using fingernails or an unclean tool can damage the skin and increase the risk of inflammation, infection, and scarring. It is fine to show us your skin as it is.

What should I check before booking around my travel plans?

Tell us if you have recently had a peel, laser treatment, or injection, or if you use retinoids or exfoliating skincare products. Please also mention any allergies, stinging, or redness you currently have. This helps us see whether your skin is already irritated.

If you have a fixed photo shoot, outdoor tour, swimming or sauna plan, or departure date, tell us when you book. Based on the steps you actually receive and how your skin responds, we will guide you on face washing, makeup, sun protection, and when to resume exercise. Recovery varies from person to person, so follow the instructions you receive for your own skin rather than someone else's review.

Frequently asked questions

Should I get Hydrafacial if I have red, painful acne?

A board-certified dermatologist will first examine the depth and extent of inflammation in red, painful areas. Severe inflammation may be treated with an anti-inflammatory injection, and oral or topical medication may be prescribed if needed. We will decide whether to proceed with Hydrafacial and which areas to include after examining your skin.

Are Hydrafacial and Aqua Peel the same treatment?

Hydrafacial refers to a specific branded device and treatment process. Equipment, solutions, and treatment steps marketed as Aqua Peel can vary by clinic, so the name alone does not mean that the treatments are identical. Ask what is included in the treatment you are considering.

Can sensitive skin or skin that was recently peeled be treated?

Tell us whether your skin currently stings or has any broken areas, when you had the peel, and which products you are using. After examining your skin, we will explain whether to proceed and which areas can be included.

Send YJ Central the areas where blackheads concern you, whether you have inflammation or irritation, and details of any recent peel or laser treatment. We will discuss whether Hydrafacial is suitable for your skin now. Enquire on WhatsApp · Enquire on LINE
